Camogie.
Last week was a very busy week for our Camogie girls. On Thursday  in Ballylooby ,on a lovely sunny evening, our under 14s played Brian Borus in thier third league game. Needing a win to keep play off prospects alive ,our girls delivered the result in great style. Playing in  a very determined mood and willing to get stuck in they took the lead with two very good goals from Rachael Browne. This ws follwed by two very good pointed frees from Kristy Crotty Ryan. Jenny Everard scored a goal just before half time after Aine Fitzgearld had done the spade work..The half time score was 3-2 to 1-0.The girls picked up in the second half where they left off and ran out winners by 3-5 to 2-0 .Amy Norris ,Cliona Collins Sarah O'Dwyer and Emma Cronin dealt comfortably with any threats from Borus forwards. Further ourfield  Shania Dowling,Kristy Crotty Ryan and Debhile Fitzgearld controlled the midfield play and sent a plentiful supply of ball into our  forwards. Up front Eimer Ryan Aine Fitzgearld and Katie Whyte worked tirelessly. Louise Norris ,Jenny Everard and  top scorer Rachael Browne were causing problems for the Ballylooby defense. Rowena Dowling ,having played in goal in the first half ,was a very effective forward for Moyle Rovers in the second half. Our mentors and  great  supporters who travelled to Ballylooby deserve a mention:Mairead Kelly,Andrew Dowling John Ryan,Karen Fitzgearld, Kate Fitzgearld Carmel Browne,Paudie Everard,Kevin Collins,Pat Whyte,Mark Ryan. On  Tuesday evening our under 13 girls qualified for the  county quarter final by virtue of a fine win over Fethard. This was Fethard's first foray into juvenile camogie and we wish them well in the future. Our girls were on top in a competitive game and ran out convincing winners by a few goals. We wish both teams the best of luck in the remaining games. Our under 16s play Clonoulty this Friday . Best of luck girls in the opening league game.Training on Fridays at 6.00pm.(attached photo of Under 12s at recent B;itz hopsted by St.Mary's).
