Ladies Football. T
he Juniors opened their championship in fine style last Monday evening with an away win against Cahir. Featuring a good mix of youth and experience the blend worked very well as Moyle Rovers set their authority on this game from the throw in and emerged desreved winners in a hard fought competitive game. This fine win was followed up last Friday evening  with a facile win against Thurles. This game was one way traffic as our girls clocked up  a huge score against the  newly formed Thurles club.  The game was effectively over at half time and following concession all the panel played their part as the club recorded a possible record win of 9-28 to 0-2.The Intermediate  team opened their championship against Brian Borus on Sunday evening. Moylre Rovers played  with the help of a strong wind in the first half  but it was Brian Borus who had the better of the exchanges and they led 2-6 to 1-2 at half time. On the resumption the girls upped the tempo and railed Brian Borus back to within four points. We then missed two scorable frees and Brian Borus seized the initiative to finisgh 3-11 to 1-7. Well done to the Management team of Keith Catherine and Anthony and continued good luck for the remainder of the season,

Our U12 and U10 girls travelled up to Pairc Ui Rinn to represent Tipperary at half time of the Munster ladies football final. Their opposition was Waterford and our team took their chance to show off their skills in front of the spectators at the match. Some great passing moves and excellent defending meant a clean sheet. Emma Cronin and Louise Norris both got themselves on the score sheet with 2 great points.Team:Kellie Ryan, Louise Norris, Amy Norris,Claire O’Dwyer, Amy Broderick, Emma Cronin, Aine  Fitzgerald, Lucy  Holohan, Cathy O’Dwyer, Sarah O’Connor .We entered 2 teams to compete in the Munster U12 blitz which was held in Clonmel Og on Saturday last. This was a developmental blitz and the emphasis was on fun and enjoyment and so there was no taking of scores in any matches Our Moyle Rovers Lions team where up against Lattin Cullen, Commeragh Rangers and Ballymacarbry. Our girls gave us three great displays of football and saw us putting up some big scores in all the matches. Our Moyle Rovers Tigers team played against Midleton, Clerihan and Ballyporeen. We had three very tight games, and we showed great determination and skill in all the matches. We got some great scores and put together some excellent passing moves. Best of luck to the Tipperary  under 16 team who contest the the long awaited Munster final ,against Waterford, this Sunday in Duneske Cahir at 11.30am. Good luck to our players Leanne Ryan ,Sarah Everard and Hazel Shanahan and team selector Francis Ryan.

 Camogie.

The Under 14s created a bit of history last Thursday evening as they became the first Moyle Rovers team to play in the newly expanded small field. Pat,as always ,had the pitch in excellent condition and the fine evening helped produce a very competitive and entertaining game of camogie. Moyle Rovers could only field twelve palyers against the full thirteen of Gortnahoe. Despite the numerical disadvantage the girls got stuck into the game and chased and harried and played great Camogie. The half time score was a very well derserved 0-3 to 0-0 in favour of Moyle Rovers, thanks to excellent pointed frees from Kristy Crotty Ryan. On the resumption Gortnahoe came more into the game and responded with a goal and a point. Moyle Rovers had plenty of chances to draw level but were unable to get the scores. The game then stepped up a gear with both teams looking for victory. Gortnahoe scored a further goal but Moyle Rovers responded with two points one from Play from Derbhile Fitzgearld and another pointed free by Kristy Crotty Ryan. From here on it was tit for tat but Gortnahoe ran out relieved winners on a final score of 3-2 to 0-7.Out team on the night was Chelsea Holden,Aine Fitzgearld,Amy Norris,Louise Norris, Emma Cronin,Kristy Crotty-Ryan(0-6),Shania Dowling,Derbhile Fitzgearld(0-1),Cloina Collins,Jenny Everard,Rachael Browne,Rowena Dowling.Mention must also be made of the Maor Uisce Diarmuid Farrell and his assistant Olan Farrell all the way from Cobh,Co.Cork. unfortunately the remaining game in the group did not fall our way and so we bow out of the competition having won two games and lost two. Well done to Managers Andrew Dolwing and Maraid Kelly for the great effort and commitment. The U 13 game vs Arravale was cancelled last Monday evening as Arravale were unable to field a team.
