DID YOU KNOW...

Did you know that the minor team of 1956 went on to form the foundation for various Moyle Rovers teams in subsequent teams.  That Minor team of 1956 beat the old bridge in the first round of the championship and were beaten by Mullinahone in Fethard in the south semi final.  That Mullinahone team went on to win the championship.  Some of the names involved in that minor team went on to give dedicated service to our club. Such as McGraths from mile tree, Boyle from redmonstown, Ryan from Monroe, hunts from lisronagh, burke from Jamestown , purcell from jossestown, Hannon from lisronagh.  In the back ground team at that time was the great Mick McCarthy who from that time to his death in 2000 gave a life time of truly dedicated service to our club.  The junior team affiliated  for the first time in 1956 went on to win the  no.2  football championship in 1957.  Some of the famous names on that junior team were the mccarthys from Monroe, powers from horsepasture, foley from garryroe, McGrath from powers towns and some of the minor team from the previous year.
