Our U16 will have played the south Hurling Semi Final on Monday night, hopefully I will have a good report for next week.

U12 South End Games Final  to take place in Clogheen on Sunday morning next. Awaiting fixture to be finalised at time of writing.

Our Junior B Football started off our double bill in Kilsheelan on Saturday evening last.  They faced Mullinahone in the South Quarter Final.  Our Juniors in the lovely sunshine got the day off to a great start, with a comprehensive win over Mullinahone.   We opened the scoring with points from Daniel Long, Conor Conneally, Rian Boland, Liam Boland.  Paudie Hartigan scored the Rovers one and only goal.  Mullinahone replied with a point It was great to see a great combination play from Luke Boland at wing back to his Father Robbie Boland to score a point. Conor Conneally score another point  before Mullinahone replied with a goal. Rovers went on to score 5 more points scored by Conor Conneally, TJ Wall, Oliver McGrath to leave the final score Moyle Rovers 1-12 Mullinahone 1-1.  They now face Fethard in the Semi Final.

Next up was our Senior Team who took on Killenaule.  Killenaule opened the scoring with a point, Brian Mulvihill replied with a point or so we thought, it was overruled as a wide ball.  Killenaule went on the score 3 more points before Jack Lonergan opened with a great point.  Killenaule were in complete control in the first despite points from Declan Browne & Peter Acheson, we  had kicked 4 wide’s, and a missed goal chance to Killenaule 1 wide. So we went in at half time down on a scoreline Moyle Rovers  0-6 Killenaule 0-10. We scored six points from Brian Mulvihill, Sean Carey, Peter Acheson & Declan Browne to Killenaule six points, to leave four points.  Then  Substitute Shane Foley, managed to put a fantastic goal away against county Goalie Mathew O’Donnell to leave just a point between the sides.  It was not to be our day as “Man of The Match” John O Dwyer scored the final point of the game.  The sound of the final whistle brought ecstatic celebration from a well deserved Killenaule team and Club.  The club would also like to wish Killenaule no 2, Declan Ryan a speedy recovery, as he was brought away from the field in a ambulance.   Commiseration to our Boys and their Mentors.  Chin up and they need to concentrate on the County Championship now.

Well Done to Bill Maher(Kilsheelan/Kilcash) Minor Hurling Captain and his team, who drew with Dublin in the All Ireland Final on Sunday Last.  Best of luck in the Replay on the 30th September .

Last  Saturday the 8th of September was a glorious sunny  day   and it was also a glorious day in the life of Moyle Rovers Camogie Club . Our  girls defeated Borrisleigh in the  under 13 county quarter final  in the county grounds at The Ragg. Our Captain Sarah O'Dwyer elected to play with the breeze in the first half. It was Borrisleigh who settled best and had a few menacing runs on our backs and were rewarded with a point. Our  backs soaked up a lot of pressure and then Borrisleigh added another point.  Moyle Rovers then settled down and began to  play really well. Then a great move by Moyle Rovers was finished to the net by Rowena Dowling. This was the score the girls  needed and they began to hurl with abandon  and determination . The half time score was 1-0 to 0-2. Facing into the strengthening breeze for the second half a  good start was essential and this was provided with a well taken point by Rachael Browne. Moyle Rovers were played with great commitment and skill all over the field. Borrisleigh responded with a point . A 45' was put over the bar by Kristy Crotty Ryan to leave two points between the teams. After a great spell of hurling our girls were rewarded with a well taken goal by Eimer Ryan.We continued to play with confidence and vigour but Borrisleigh were not giving up and scored a goal to leave two points between the teams. Goalie Emma Tobin got a vital touch to a goal bound shot and with the assistance of the upright the ball deflected out.The long closing minutes were very tense as Borris tried  to land the winning goal but our  Moyle Rovers heroines held out for a famous and well deserved victory.Final score Moyle Rovers 2-2 to Borrisleigh1-3  Our goalie Emma Tobin was unlucky with the goal having made a great stop beforehand, the Noriis sisters,Amy and Louise, kept a great defence just in front of her. The half back line of Emma Cronin,Sarah O'Dwyer and Aine Fitzgearld were magnificent any one of them could have won "Calin an Cluiche" award.Kristy Crotty  Ryan and  Jenny Everard worked tirelessly at midfield on a hot day for young players. Our half forwards of Eimer Ryan,Rachael Browne and Leah Mcgarry fought fearlessly for everything ,while upfront Rowena Dowling, with a crucial goal,, and Sarah Hickey were unlucky not to  add further scores., Eadoin O Sullivan,Sophie Delaney,Lucy Whyte made valuable contributions when introduced. Karen Meehan,Kelly Ryan,Erin Mitten,Yasmin Quirke,Rosin Breen (injured) completed our panel.Well done to one and  all of the girls for the way they played their hearts out .Great credit and praise also is due to the  management of John Ryan,Anne McGarry and Karen Fitzgearld. Bring on the semi final.
