RESULTS

On Wednesday night last, our Intermediate took on Knockavilla Kickhams in the County Quarter final.

We travelled to Ballyporeen to play under light at 8pm, but it was worth the late night. Our boys got off to a great start with some great football. We had gained a great lead at half time on a scoreline of Moyle Rovers 0-9 to Knockavilla 0-2. In the second half we had goals from Liam Carey & Philip Quirke to win comprehensively. Final Score Moyle Rovers 2-14 Knockavilla 1-4. Well done to all the team and their mentors.

Our Senior Footballers faced Arravale Rovers in the County Football Championship, As always there was very little between the sides. Despite having the advantage of the extra man, we went in at half time Moyle Rovers 1-5 Arravale Rovers 0-6.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Our under 14s travelled to Dublin on the early bus from Monroe last Saturday morning. Departing at 6.30 am they left with high hopes as they are a very skillful and talented group of footballers. Competing for the first time in All Ireland under 14 sevens competition they acquitted themselves very well but were beaten at the Quater final stage by Kilmurray Ibricken of Clare. The first game of the day was against Kilmacus Crokes who eventually won out the competition. Arriving at the venue a little behind schedule our girls had to rush into the match without their normal warm up and preparation. They were beaten by 5-5 to 3-2. Next up were Maote of Westmeath and our girls were winners 5-0 to 2-1. They were now finding their stride and the next game was their best performance of the day ,turning on the style to beat Carryduff of Down by 11-4 to 2-0 and were being mentioned as possible winners after this blistering display. We were now into a quarter final against kilmurray Ibricken. We were eventually beaten 6-2 to 3-5 and we were very unlucky with some chances and decisions that did not go our way. Kilmurray were a physically bigger side and used it to their advantage. Both Kilmurray and Kilmacud went to contest the A Final and this was won by a single point by Kilmacud. The girls are right up up there with the best in the country and the club are very proud of thieir herioc efforts at the first time at asking in this competition. Well done to all the girls who represented themselves ,their families and the club in an exemplary fashion. Well done also to the dedicated management of Mark Ryan,Karen Fitzgearld and Helen Cronin and the loyal group of supporters who made the early start and long trek. Our panel on the day were: Claire Moore,Emma Cronin,Sarah O'Dwyer,Shania Dowling,Derbhile Fitzgearld,Bronagh McGrath,Evrena Everard,Michelle McMeel,Kristy Crotty Ryan,Chloe Boland. We will be backOur Miners travelled to Thurles to play their second match in the competition.Attitude and commitment were vastly improved from the opening match and this was soon reflected on the scoreboard. By half time the match was over as a contest and the girls ran out easy winners. Mullinahone are the remaining game in our group and we are placed to qualify for the county semi final . There are possibly three more games in as many weeks so the commitment to training and the winning momentum must be maintained. Well done to all the panel on the day for a whole hearted display.
