Under 14 County Final Victory
There were jubilant scenes in Boherlahan on Saturday last when Moyle Rovers won the County Under 14 A Football Championship.
We had beaten a determined Cashel side in the semi-final in Ballylooby the previous Wednesday evening. Following on from that victory, we were up against Moycarkey-Borris, who we had previously met in the Féile Peil final.
In the first half our defence was excellent, blocking two certain goal chances against a sustained Moycarkey attack. We kept in touch with a number of well taken frees and at half time the score-line read Moycarkey 1-5 Moyle Rovers 0-5.
Having started the second half strongly with a converted penalty, we then went on to express ourselves with some excellent fielding throughout the pitch. Once our boys went in front there was no stopping them, scoring 3-4 in the second half.
Final score Moyle Rovers 3-9 Moycarkey-Borris 1-6.
Team:  Kieran Quirke, Jack Phelan, Jack Holohan, Brian Lacey, Michael Cleary, Ben Owens, Gavin Byrne, Callum Meagher, Diarmuid Mulcahy (0-1), Rian Quigley (2-6), Conor McGrath (0-1), Brian Quirke(1-1), Sean Cotter, Ross Gavin, Anthony Phelan,
Subs: Brian McKeown, Mike McGrath, Rian Kiely, Sean Hackett, Tadgh Carroll, Brian O’Sullivan, Seamus O’Brien, Aaron Kiely, Harry Phelan, Daniel Quigley, Josh Power, Joey Devoy, Hugh O’Sullivan, Brian O’Dea, Aidan Lonergan, Conor Og Ryan, Ciaran Casey, Mark Sheehan, Robert Flaherty, Cian Walsh.
We wish a speedy recovery to Brian McKeown who sustained a hand injury in the South Final.
As it is 13 years since we last won the county championship at this level, this victory is a great boost to our Juvenile Club.

Our u-14 hurlers are playing in Feile in Dr. Morris Park on Saturday, 21st June.

U12 Football
Our U12 girls kicked off their championship Thursday June 5th, playing away to Clonmel Commercials. We had a slow start and our defence found themselves under pressure with Commercials earning a lead of 1-3 before a great team effort by Grace Quinn, Claire Moylan and Michelle Cronin drove the ball down to a waiting Sarah O’Connor who passed deftly to Ellie Devaney who popped in into the net to score our first goal. We were still four points down at half time.
In the second half Mia Duggan and Lauren Hurley played valiantly in midfield while Triona Ryan put two more goals in the net.  Eimear McKeown made some great saves but the final score was 4-6 to 3-0.
We also got two more games under our belt last week, playing Clerihan last Wednesday and Boherlahan on Sunday. Although we were defeated on both occasions we acquitted ourselves well and showed great character, gaining valuable experience from each game.
Panel: Eimear McKeown, Rachel Cooke, Grace Quinn, Alana Dowling, Mia Duggan, Michelle Cronin, Claire Moylan, Sarah O’Connor, Lauren Hurley, Emma Bates, Robyn Tynan, Ella O’Keeffe, Triona Ryan, Ellie Devaney, Dearbhla McDonagh, Lucy Holohan, Kate Moore, Rona O’Sullivan, Grainne McEntaggart, Orlaith Breen. Intermediate Football
On Friday last we faced Carrick Swan in the first round of the South Intermediate Football Championship. On a warm evening it was a tough game, with little between the sides, a goal from Danny Perry left us level at half time at 1-5 each. With limited numbers we didn’t have the fresh players to bring in on the warm evening, and Carrick Swan took full advantage with the final score 5-6 to 1-7.

Family Weekend
Our family weekend kicked off with Poc Fada in Powerstown Racecourse, Danny Lyne won out on the day. Kevin O’Connor edged out Jimmy Dunne in the ‘Senior’ Class.

Well done to the County Senior Football team on their victory over Limerick in the Munster Championship on Saturday evening last. That occasion was in Walsh Park where our own Derek Browne, contributed 11 points in a win over Waterford. Golden memories of a dual All-Star.

Community Games Camogie
Contesting the Community Cames camogie for the first time we played the South semi-final against our neighbours Fethard. It was a tough encounter and our girls settled into their stride and began to dominate and we produced some great scores from combined team play. This saw us qualify for the south final. Moyle Rovers 6-2 Fethard 0-1.
In the final Cashel before we knew it we were behind before Leah McGarry converted a free. This settled our girls and we notched up a goal from Eimear Mc Keown and Leah McGarry as well as points from McGarry and Aine Fitzgerald to leave the half time score 2-5 to 5-2 to Cashel. We knew that this game was far from over as we were competing well. Thanks to a great team effort we got back to within two points of Cashel with ten minutes to go. However, at the final whistle Cashel were the winners. Moyle Rovers 3-8 Cashel 7-4.

Moyle then lost their way while Brian Borus added four points on the trot followed by a goal.  They led at halftime by 1-10 to 1-2.
Barbara Ryan was introduced at half time and the second half saw a much improved performance and a spirited revival from Moyle Rovers. Ann Marie McGrath had a penalty and at the halfway stage the score of the game came from a well worked ball up the field for Shauna O’Brien finish to the net. Gillian O’Brien scored from the kick out to leave to leave just two points between the teams. Similar to the first half Moyle Rovers were unable to capitalise on the good run and Brian Borus came back into the game to close out with some points and a late goal.  Final score Brian Borus 2-21 to Moyle Rovers 4-4.
