Camogie

Week of 5th October 2015

The minors travelled to Littleton on Sunday to fulfil their last round game against Moycarkey. They came away with a fine win after very good game that rewarded our hard working team. Moycarkey opened the scoring before Eimer Ryan scored two expertly struck frees. Cliona Collins scored a goal and a point to leave the halftime score Moyle Rovers 1-3 to Moycarkey 0-3. With the aid of the lively breeze Moyle rovers quickly extended their lead with a point from Evrena Everad ,another Cliona Collins goal and a brace of very good points from the hard working Aine Fitzgearld. It was case of the Goalscorer turned Goalkeeper and Goalkeeper turned Goalscorer when Amy Norris swapped positions with Cliona Collins and Amy scored two excellent goals when moved to full forward. Moyle Rovers kept up the pressure and a super long range point from Zoe Farrell saw them run ran out comfortable winners by 4-8 to 0-3. Team; Amy Norris (2-0), Cora Maher, Rosin Breen, Emma Cronin, Aisling Deely, Louise Norris, Aoife Power , Aine Fitzgearld (0-2),  Zoe Farrell (0-1),Eimer Ryan (0-3),Evrena Everard (0-1), Cliona Collins (2-1), Jenny Everard. Great credit and praise are due to John Ryan and Karen Fitzgearld who have worked very hard to keep the game of Camogie alive in Moyle Rovers. They can be very proud of their achievements with this minor team who just missed out on qualification to the county semi finals by the narrowest of margins. As the curtain comes down on our camogie season we say a big thank you to all who helped us along the way. A special word of thanks to our great organiser at Monroe Pat O’Connor who as always was very obliging and helpful for training, matches and jerseys.

Week of 27th Semptember 2015

Our minors took on Ballingarry last Sunday in Monroe. This was a must win game to keep our championship hopes alive. Taking to the field a player short the girls did not let their numerical disadvantage deter them. Being a twelve aside competition this was a lot of ground to cover on a full pitch and to their great credit they matched Ballingarry in all quarters and we were two points to the good at half time after a very hard working display. Half time score Moyle Rovers 2-5 Ballingarry 2-3. The goals came from an Eimer Ryan free and a kicked effort from Aoife Power. Aine Fitzgearld was playing a stormer at centerfield and scored four points. The hard working Cora Maher added another point. At full numbers for the second half Moyle Rovers had ground to be optimistic for their chances in the second half. However it was Ballingarry who stepped up a gear and Moyle Rovers were hit for two goals which knocked the wind out of our sails. Despite our best efforts we could only register a single point for the second half. Final score Ballingarry 4-6 Moyle rovers 2-6. Rachael Browne was excellent in goal making fine saves and long crucial clearances down the field. She was ably assisted by the backs of Amy and Louise Norris, Derbhile Fitzgearld and Emma Cronin. At centerfield Cora Maher, Aine Fitzgearld, and Aoife Power worked tirelessly and they were all rewarded on the scoreboard. Up front Cliona Collins, Rowena Dowling, Eimer Ryan and Evrena Everard tried their best but met a stubborn Ballingarry defence. Team Rachael Browne, Amy Norris, Derbhile Fitzgearld, Emma Cronin, Louise Norris, Aoife Power (1-0) , Aine Fitzgearld (0-4), Cora Maher (0-1), Eimer Ryan (1-0),Evrena Everard, Cliona Collins (0-1), Rowena Dowling.

Week of 30th August 2015

Moyle Rovers played away to St.Mary’s in the Under 12 league last Monday. We had a great start with a goal from Kaitlin O’Regan and this set the tone for the remainder of the game. We won on a convincing scoreline of 5-7 to 0-1. Later in the week we played Ballybacon Grange and struggled to repeat our good form. At half time we were down 1-0 to 2-0. The second half was more eagerly contested with Orla Breen playing well in the backs and Triona Ryan leading the forwards. We scored three points in the second half to tie up the game at 1-3 to 2-0.It was a very good recovery. Our next round is Monday evening at home to Moneygall. On behalf of the Ladies football and camogie clubs we wish all our players who are starting college life the very best of luck. Hopefully you will find that Camogie and Ladies Football will lead to lifelong friendships as well as great sporting memories. Best of luck to the Tipperary Minor hurlers who take part in the all Ireland final next weekend and especially the Moyle Rovers players.

Week of 23rd August 2015

The juniors made the long trek to Ballina on the banks of the Shannon last Sunday evening. Moyle Rovers began with great spirit and determination and had the opening score from a Sarah Ryan pointed free. The game was very close but Moyle Rovers established dominance and were 1-3 to 0-2 ahead on twenty minutes, the goal courtesy of Sarah Ryan free. We had squandered some good goal chances before Ballina came into the game and had a goal and two points to lead at half time by 1-4 to 1-3. The half time rain and long interval did not help Moyle Rovers’ cause and Ballina coped better with the greasy conditions in the second half. Ballina found their fluency and scored two goals despite the heroic efforts of our gallant backs. While tiredness was becoming a factor our girls dug deep and they finished strongly to recover the initiative. Ballina had done enough damage in the opening ten minutes of the second half to secure victory. Our girls can be very proud of their display and great efforts. Led by inspirational captain Niamh Lonergan they gave everything they had but it was not enough on the night. Final score Moyle Rovers 3-4 Ballina 3-11.Team:Rachael Browne, Rosin Breen, Niamh Lonergan (C),Shannon Keating, Aisling Deely(0-1f), Derbhile Fitzgearld, Niamh Mackey, Laura Grace, Rosin McGrath, Zoe Farrell, Evrena Everard (1-2,1f),Sarah Ryan (1-1fs), Jenny Everard, Emily Corcoran, Roweena Dowling, subs Bronagh McGrath, Elaine Butler. The U12s played the first round of the league with an away game to Borrisleigh. Borris started well and had the opening two points. Moyle Rovers settled and levelled the game. However we were putting a lot of chances wide and Borrisleigh won by 0-5 to 0-3. Our U10’s had a fantastic day at the Moira Cahill tournament in Dundrum on the 15th of August. We had great matches with Drom & Inch, Burgess, Boherlahan and Holycross. The girls who represented Moyle Rovers on the day were Nicole Delaney, Hazel and Emer Brennan, Shauna Mitten, Mia Dowling, Ava White, Hannah Ryan, Holly & Aideen Prout and Aine Phelan. As always a big thank you to all the parents for your continued support. Training continues on Friday evenings for the U10’s, U8’s and U6 girls.

Week of 16th August 2015

The under 13s played Moycarkey last Tuesday week. Moyle Rovers got off to a good start with two goals and a point at half time, in the second half Moycarkey got a goal early on which was cancelled out by a goal from Ava Browne. We then scored a few nice points from our forwards before a well taken goal by Ava Browne who caught the ball outside the square and turned and scored with great skill, Grainne O’Donnell scored another two goals from play leaving Rovers well on top. Final score Moyle Rovers 5-5 to Moycarkey  2-1.Training to continue Tuesday and Friday nights. On behalf of both the Camogie and Ladies football clubs we say well done to all our players who received Leaving certificate results during the week

Week of 9th August 2015

Monroe on Sunday evening saw the very welcome return of a Moyle Rovers adult camogie team competing in the championship after an absence of some years. The girls played super hurling full of commitment and hard work and in the end we secured a hard earned fully deserved draw against Ballingarry. The first half was dominated by Moyle Rovers but we struggled to convert our hard won possession into scores.  Ballingarry had a goal against the run of play and we went to the break 0-4 to 1-4 behind. We were rocked with an early Ballingarry goal but the fighting spirit of the Moyle Rovers girls began to emerge, point by point they clawed their way back into the game and in the end we secured the draw on a score of 2-4 to 0-10. Well done to all involved and great to see the adult team back again. It was a heart-warming display from a great bunch of players who did not accept defeat against the odds.

Week of 2nd August 2015

Moyle rovers U 13 played Ballybacon in Goatenbridge Tuesday 28th July. With some girls out on holidays the Rovers girls took a while to settle. We enjoyed a good first half and led at half time.  The Ballybacon girls gave us a good test and repeatedly drove the ball into the backs of Ava, Tara and Ella and together with Caitlin in goal they dealt with these comfortably. The second half went Moyle Rovers way adding a few more scores to win the game. Overall this was a good team performance with all girls contributing very well. Final score Moyle Rovers 5-5 Ballybacon 0-0.  Our next game is against Moycarkey on Tuesday evening.

Week of 26th July 2015

Final score Fethard 5-1 Moyle Rovers 1-2.We have a junior team in the championship this year and preparations are underway for training and management.

Week of 19th July 2015

Our U10 girls gave some excellent performances last Saturday the 11th of July in the Fethard blitz. These girls are showing huge improvement each week and are already looking forward to the next blitz. Our U15 s took on New Inn last Friday night in New Inn. Aine Fitzgerald opened the scoring with a well taken goal in the opening few minutes. New inn responded with a well taken point followed by three more in the following ten minutes. Our girls worked hard for the remainder of the first half however but we could not convert our opportunities while New Inn maximised on theirs. We went to the break 2-7 to 1-0 down. After the half time break New Inn started well but our girls began to take control and got many beautiful scores, with points from Emma Cronin, Emer Ryan and goals from Sophie Delaney, Emer Ryan and a second for Aine Fitzgerald. Unfortunately our girls did not win the game but they won the battle and gave us a very entertaining match. Final score new Inn 4-10 Moyle Rovers 4-04. Week of 26th April 2015

On Monday April 20th our under 16s travelled to Fethard and finished their final round championship game in great style. They had a convincing win over Fethard and finished runners up in the group. Unfortunately only one team comes out this group and so our championship has ground to a halt.  Our girls settled quickly into their stride and a well taken goal by Emer Ryan got us off to a great start. Clare O’Dwyer was her usual confident self in goal. Sarah O’Dwyer and Amy Norris were in an uncompromising mood and they robustly defended their goal line. Further out Róisín Breen and Emma Cronin were first to the play and made good runs up the wings to help set up attacks and scores. Our midfielders of Jenny Everard, Aine Fitzgerald and Louise Norris worked tirelessly all through and were rewarded with some impressive individual scores. Emer Ryan and Sophie Delaney were very effective and threatening on the half forward line while Karen Meehan, Rowena Dowling, and Erin Mitten were all in top form and exerted pressure. This was a great team performance with excellent support play and skill throughout and the final score was Moyle Rovers 6-5 Fethard 0-1. We now await the league fixtures. Team: Clare O'Dwyer, Sarah O'Dwyer, Amy Norris,  Emma Cronin, Louise Norris (0-1), Róisín Breen, Áine Fitzgerald (2-1), Jenny Everard, Emer Ryan (1-3), Sophie Delaney (1-0), Roweena Dowling (1-1), Karen Meehan and Erin Mitten.  The Camogie Club offers its Sympathy to  Eamonn Power and family on their recent Bereavement.

Moyle Rovers weathered the storm and got back to scoring ways and ended up deserved winners 3-8 to 2-2. Clare O’Dwyer was her usual confident self in goal. Sarah O’Dwyer and Amy Norris were in an uncompromising mood and they robustly defended their goal line. Further out Rosin Breen and Emma Cronin were first to the play and made good runs up the wings to help set up attacks and scores. Our Midfielders of Jenny Everard, Aine Fitzgearld and Louise Norris worked tirelessly all through and were rewarded with some impressive individual scores. Week of 23rd November 2014

Our minors travelled to Templetuohy last Sunday morning to play Portroe in the county semi final. This was always going to be a big ask of our team and we suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of a more experienced and skilful team. Our cause was not helped by the absence of a number of key players who could not make the game. We were winning plenty of possession but unable to convert to scores despite some good chances. Portroe got their scores and grew in confidence. Stand in goalie Jenny Everard had busy first half and we went to the break 4-4 to 0-0. Our girls showed great determination in the second half and gave as good as they got for long periods but we were unable to raise a flag for all our opportunities, including a saved penalty. Portroe ran out deserved winners. The girls deserve great credit for sticking to their task right to the final whistle. Our backs had a busy day and acquitted themselves very well. Mid filed tried very hard all through and our forwards were very tightly marshalled every time they won possession. Final score 5-11 to 0-0. Team Jenny Everard, Shannon Keating, Sarah O’Dwyer, Aisling Deely, Rosin Breen, Shania Dowling, Derbhile Fitzgearld, Rosin McGrath(C), Rachael Browne, Zoe Farrell, Caroline Quirke, Roweena Dowling, Michelle McMeel.

Week of 9th November 2014

Our under 16 team travelled to the Ragg last Saturday to take on Ballina in the county semi final. The day held fine but the pitch was very weathered and energy sapping. The opening ten minutes were fiercely contested and Ballina applied early pressure to which our girls heroically defended and kept the game scoreless. Ballina opened the scoring with a pointed free and followed soon with a goal. Moyle Rovers replied with a pointed free from Evrena Everard. Towards the end for the first half Ballina hit us for two goals and we went to the break 4-3 to 0-1 and a big uphill battle for the second half. We started brightly and following a great run Derbhile Fitzgearld scored a great point. We had plenty of possession but did not make it count on the scoreboard. Ballina weathered the storm and found their scoring touch again. Our girls never gave up and fought all the way for every ball and every chance. The final score was a very deceptive and flattering 7-6 to 0-.2 for Ballina. In goal young Claire O’Dwyer showed great courage and could not be faulted for any of the goals. Older sister Sarah was in protective mode, ensuring no Ballina forwards got an easy shot or run on goal. She was ably assisted by the hard working and resolute Norris sisters, Amy and Louise. Aisling Deely and Zoe Farrell had played in a football county final two hours earlier but found reserves of energy and played their hearts out and gave everything to the cause. Shania Dowling, Derbhile Fitzgearld and Evrena Everard worked tirelessly at centerfield. They covered huge amount of ground as this was a full pitch game for 12 aside on sticky ground. Jenny Everard, Kirsty Crotty Ryan and Aine Fitzgearld gave as good as they got from the robust battles they encountered but scores were hard to generate. Cliona Collins, Rosin Breen, Eimer Ryan and Rachael Browne tried their best to lift the team when introduced and made great contributions to our game. Emma Cronin and Roweena Dowling were unable to play. It was a disappointing end to a great run for this team. They gave us some great games along the way but they can be proud of the way they kept fighting right to the end. Team Management of John Ryan and Maraid Dowling deserve great praise for their dedication to this team over a long number of months. On behalf of the club, the girls and their parents they are sincerely thanked for their great efforts. Our remaining team of the year the minor team take on Carrick Swans next Friday night in Monroe at 7.00pm under lights. A win should qualify us a for a county semi final.

Week of 2nd November 2014

Our minors travelled to Ballycahill on Sunday morning for a league game against Holycross. Sportingly we volunteered to evenly match Holycross who could only muster eleven players. We had a lot of tired bodies and were forced into two quick changes when Shannon Keating and Shania Dowling had to retire to the sideline. Evrena Everard opened the scoring with a point. Caroline Quirke then had a goal and Rosin McGrath hit another to open a five point gap. Holycross then got a goal and we retired at half time quite satisfied with our work and effort and in the lead 1-4 to 1-1.We got a dream start to the second half when a number of players were involved before the referee deemed the ball over the goal line. Holycross then upped their game and our tired legs were fully tested. We were hit for 2-4 without reply. We were now chasing the game and came with renewed energy. Evrena blazed over the bar as went in search of the goal. Caroline Quirke then netted from close range and we now went in search of victory. We had a chance only to be denied by a very good save from the Holycross keeper. Beaten by a single point 3-4 to 3-5 there was nothing lost in defeat. Team; Kate Delahunty, Shannon Keating, Shania Dowling, Aisling Deely, Zoe Farrell, Derbhile Fitzgearld, Rosin McGrath (Capt) (0-1),Danni di Ruzza, Kristy Crotty Ryan, Evrena Everard(1-3,),Caroline Quirke(2-0),Rachael O’Dwyer ,Rachael Browne, Sarah Everard

Week of 22nd October 2014

Our under 14s travelled to the Ragg on Monday and played in  the county semi final against Thurles. They acquitted themselves very well and were just  beaten by five  points after a tough hour of Camogie. It is a great credit to the progression of the  club that we can hold our own against teams like Thurles. Well done to all involved.  Final score 2-6 to 2-1.( Full report next week). Our minors had a very early start to their opening championship game with a 10.30 am throw in Ballingarry on bank Holiday Monday. This is a12 aside competition and our girls made the journey worthwhile with a very good win.  They played a committed and hard working game and were deservedly ahead at half time by 3-3 to 1-1. Ballingarry had the strong wind in the second half and reduced the deficit to three points at one stage but our girls were in no mood not going to leave this game behind. They picked up the pace again for the last quarter and registered some brilliant scores to end 5-11 to 3-5. Team; Kate Delahunty, Shannon Keating, Sarah O’Dwyer, Aisling Deely, Derbhile Fitzgearld, Rosin McGrath (Capt) (0-2),Shania Dowling, Sarah Everard(2-3),Evrena Everard(1-2,1f),Zoe Farrell (0-4),Caroline Quirke(1-0),Rosin Breen, Replacements, Jenny Everard (1-0),Rowena Dowling.

Week of 19th October 2014

The under 16 team travelled to The county Grounds in the Ragg last Saturday, for an early morning game against Kiladangan in the county  quarter final. This was a big game for our girls and they stood up the challenge magnificently and came home with a well deserved and hard fought win. Zoe Farrell opened the scoring for us with two well taken points to put us into a lead which we never relinquished. The hurling was competitive and every chance was keenly contested. Our backs were outstanding in the early exchanges with teak tough defending and this set the platform for victory. Following great work by Evrena Everard, Aine Fitzgearld and Kristy Crotty Ryan the ball was channelled to Zoe Farrell who slotted home our first goal. This gave us the break we deserved. Just before half time Kristy Crotty Ryan scored a very good goal to give us a half time lead of 2-5 to 1-3. The second half started where we left off. All the girls worked extremely hard and were in no mood to slacken off. Onto the field of play came Eimer Ryan and Rowena Dowling and Emma Cronin and they made valuable contributions. Eimer scored three very good frees and a point from play. Further goals from Kristy Crotty Ryan and Evrena Everard sealed a great victory. Kildangan never gave up and made us fight all the way but they had to give way to a more skilful and committed Moyle Rovers team that now go forward to a county semi-final. Final score 4-10 to 3-5.Team: Clare O' Dwyer, Amy Norris, Sarah O'Dwyer, Louise Norris Shania Dowling (0-1), Deirbhile Fitzgerald, Aisling Deely (0-3f) Áine Fitzgerald , Evrena Everard (1-0 Kristy Crotty Ryan (2-1),), Zoe Farrell (1-2), Jenny Everard. Subs used: Roweena Dowling, Emer Ryan (0-4,3f), and Emma Cronin, Rachel Browne (inj) Róisín Breen (inj). As our girls were playing in the humble surrounds of the county Camogie grounds in The Ragg our Under 12s were en route to Croke Park to take part in the Caman to Croker Blitz. This competition was confined to 64 lucky clubs who were given the opportunity to play in Croke Park as part of the Camogie Association’s 110 th anniversary. What a day out our young players had. This had been a much anticipated day with the girls having the opportunity to play on the hallowed ground of Croke Park just weeks after the Tipperary Senior Hurlers contested the All Ireland Final against Kilkenny in Croke Park. The team left with their supporters on a bus for Croke Park at 7.45 from the Moyle Rovers Grounds. Arriving at Croke Park at 11.00am for registration the girls were met by Eamon Browne of the Munster camogie council who welcomed them to Croke Park. They were shown to the dressing rooms and then the girls went out through the tunnel to get their team photo in Croke Park before the games began. Captain for the day was Orlaith Breen. The first game was set for 11.45 against a Dublin team. Eimear McKeown in goal gave great puck outs to the forward line. There were well fought battles in the back line with our players showing great determination. The length of the pitch did not suit our long puck outs and the forwards were unable to maximise scoring. The Dublin team were too strong for our girls who never got into their stride and underperformed, the occasion understandly got too our girls and so it had to be a win in our next two games against the Cork and Derry Teams. In the second game Rovers started well, with Duireann O’Sullivan and Orlaith Breen outstanding in centre field. The partnership of Catriona Phelan, Kaitlin O’Regan and Sorcha O’Brien ensured many great clearances. We had some great in the air catches by Megan Looby. Ella Ryan really got into this game with magnificent pick-ups and broke through the opposition to clear her lines to set up more scores. Ava Collins and Grainne O’Donnell brought further strength in the pickup and linkages. Makayala O’Donnell with good first touches cleared out and drove the ball forward to Nicole and Tara. In goal was Shauna Mitten who has been very successful in goal for us during the under 10 season. Catriona Phelan opened the scoring with a well taken point from play. Nicole Delaney scored a great goal after some great team work with Orlaith Breen and Rachel Cooke and Catriona Phelan. Tara, Rachel and Duireann O’Sullivan created great chances. Aoibhe Browne came on and added to the attack. We had a great individual score from Grace O’Dwyer who broke through four girls to take a shot and scored a great point. Triona Ryan ran along the wing and showed great grit in getting a well earned point. Alana Dowling came in at centre and made great blocks and took the frees. Tara McGrath, Hazel Brennan and Taryn Kelly showed great determination in winning ball and got in some great blocks. The result was a well-earned win. The third game was straight after the second which suited our girls as they were now well warmed up and ready for more action. Kaitlin O’Regan and Ava Collins kept their lines cleared and Shauna Mitten and Mia Dowling ensured no goal threats. Orlaith Breen started again the same way in the previous two games with Catriona and Alana beside her. Alana Dowling and Catriona Phelan showed great leadership from the centre. Megan Looby and Ava Collins worked well together. The O’Donnell sisters won plenty of ball and used left and right sides to clear and set up the forwards. Again we had a victory which is what everyone who plays in Croke Park wants. The day was exhausting for the girls as they all experienced the great privilege of playing in Croke Park. We won two of our three games and all 21 players managed to play on the day for which we are delighted. The Moyle Rover’s girls represented the club with great pride on a day and hopefully some of these girls will make a return to play here on a bigger occasion in later years .The team on the day was  Orlaith Breen (capt), Kaitlin O’Regan, Sorcha O Brien, Makayala O’Donnell, Sarah O’Connor, Ava Collins, Catriona Phelan, Alana Dowling, Megan Looby, Tara McGrath, Eimear McKeown, Rachel Cooke, Duireann O’Sullivan, Triona Ryan, Taryn Kelly, Nicole Delaney, Aoibhe Browne, Grace O’Dwyer, Grainne O’Donnell, Shauna Mitten, Hazel Brennan, Mia Dowling. Unfortunately Sarah O’Connor did not play in the game through injury and Alex and Jessie Davern were unavailable due to illness. The day was a memorable and enjoyable one. We had  players from under 10 team, Marguerite Buckley, Jillian Cronin, Aine Phelan and Hannah Ryan supporting as well as   Sophie Delaney and Eve Ryan from our  under 14 team. The girls got their team photo taken in Croke Park and they were all presented with a copy of at the end of the day. We stopped off on the way home at Junction 14 for food, which they all enjoyed. This was a memorable day for both mentors, and parents and we are delighted it all went off so well. Five of the players are moving on to under 14, and we wish them well, Catriona Phelan, Makayala O’Donnell, Sorcha O’Brien, Alana Dowling, and Sarah O’Connor. On this note we would like to thank the girls and their parents for their support to Moyle Rovers Camogie Club and we have now completed our year at under 10 and under 12 competitions, training is now finished. Thanks to all who organised and supported to ensure the day was day the girls wil never forget

Week of 12th October 2014

It was back to Ballylooby last Sunday for our under 16 girls in their replay with Brian Borus. Having lost the toss for home advantage our girls were in no mood for any further concessions and we came away with a hard fought and impressive win. Moyle rovers started with great intent and were unlucky not have bagged two early scores from chances in front of goal. We got off mark with an Aisling Deely free. The game was very competitive and fairly even for the first half with Moyle Rovers leading at half time by 2-1 to 0-4. The goals came from Evrena and Jenny Everard. On the restart Moyle rovers introduced Emma Cronin, Rowena Dowling and Eimer Ryan and they made their contributions to an already very hard team. The second half was again well contested with every ball and score hard earned. Our backs of Amy, Louise, Sarah and Shania kept a tight rein on the Brain Borus forwards and with Claire in goal kept out many certain scores. Our midfield girls of Aisling, Derbhile, Kristy and Zoe ran themselves to a standstill We had some lovely scores in the game , Aine Fitzgearld had a goal and a point, Shania Dowling soloed the length of the pitch and passed to Kristy Crotty Ryan for one the scores of the game. Towards the end of the game Evrena Everard had a very well taken goal to complete her hat trick. The hallmark of this performance was the work ethic of all our girls involved on the day. Twelve aside on a big pitch is very demanding on effort and energy and our girls gave everything for the cause and ran out deserved winners.  Final score Moyle Rover 5-7 Brian Borus 0-5.Team: Clare O' Dwyer, Amy Norris, Sarah O'Dwyer, Louise Norris Shania Dowling (0-1), Kristy Crotty Ryan (0-3), Deirbhile Fitzgerald, Aisling Deely (0-1) Áine Fitzgerald (1-1), Evrena Everard (3-1), Zoe Farrell , Jenny Everard. Subs used: Roweena Dowling, Emer Ryan, and Emma Cronin, Rachel Browne (inj) Róisín Breen (inj). We are now qualified for a county Quarter final probably this weekend.

Week of 5th October 2014

The under 16s played a knockout game in the championship last Sunday in Cahir against Brian Borus. This was a cracking game that went to extra time and both sides will have to do all again as they finished all square. Soon after the throw in we were a goal and two points down before Kirsty Crotty Ryan registered our first point. This was quickly followed by a well taken goal by a hard working Zoe Farrell. Our forward line of Evrena Everard, Jenny Everard and Roweena Dowling were combining well and threatened the Boru's goal. Kirsty saw us draw level with a superb shot to the back of the net. Borus got through our defence to score another goal and point to leave the half-time score Moyle Rovers 2-1 Borus 2-3. It was all to play for in the second half with the wind to our backs. We did not get the start we wanted as Borus got two goals in quick succession. Áine Fitzgerald made her presence felt, soon after she was introduced, with a goal and a point. Our back line of Amy Norris, Sarah O' Dwyer, Shania Dowling and Emma Cronin began to dominate with a plentiful supply of ball to our forwards where Emer Ryan, Louise Norris and Rachel Browne were working very hard. Róisin Breen and Derbhile Fitzgerald covered loads of ground in midfield but we could not register our dominance on the scoreboard. We were four points down with time running out but our girls dug deep to force the draw in normal time Evrena Everard worked her way towards goal and got a well deserved goal. This left a point between the sides and  Kristy Crotty Ryan levelled the game from a 65 in the final few minutes to leave the full-time score 4-3 each. Extra time was to decide who would progress to the next round. At half- time in extra time the sides could still not be separated. Clare O' Dwyer was magnificent in goal and showed great courage to keep a clean sheet. The entire panel had their part to play in the extra time again. Both sides were having difficulty judging the wind and it was a point apiece in extra time. We will have to play it all over again. We were treated to a great courageous display of camogie. Well done girls!Team: Clare O' Dwyer, Amy Norris, Sarah O'Dwyer, Emma Cronin, Shania Dowling, Deirbhile Fitzgerald, Róisín Breen, Evrena Everard (1-0), Zoe Farrell (1-0), Kristy Crotty Ryan (1-3), Roweena Dowling, Jenny Everard. Subs used: Emer Ryan, Rachel Browne, Louise Norris and Áine Fitzgerald (1-1).On Saturday we had our annual interclub competition and skills competitions. This was a very enjoyable and competitive sporting occasion. Four teams contested for a new Cup and Shield presented in honour of the late Helen Breen. Team Rowena Dowling were the inaugural cup winners while Team Jenny Everard were the shield winners. These were presented with Cup and Shield by Helen’s husband Nick. The Skills winners, second and third in order in Group 1 were Aine Fitzgearld, Jenny Everard, Sarah& Claire O’Dwyer. Group 2: Kate Delahunty, Rachael Browne, Louise Norris. Thanks to all who organised and helped with cup of tea afterwards.

Week of 21st September 2014

We travelled to Littleton on Sunday to play Moycarkey Borris in the league on a beautiful evening for hurling. Our girls started well and Emer Ryan took a great goal from a far out free. This was followed by two goals from Karen Meehan after some good combination play from Eve Ryan, Alanna Dowling and Sarah O' Connor. Clare O' Dwyer kept a clean sheet and placed her puckouts well. Our backs Erin Mitten, Amy Norris and Ellen Buckley came under pressure and dealt well with the Moycarkey threat. The half time score was Moyle Rovers 3-0 to 0-1. Moycarkey opened the scoring with an early goal in the second half. Our half back line of Emma Cronin, Louise Norris and Makayala O'Donnell began to take control. Midfielders Aine Fitzgerald and Sophie Delaney worked tirelessly throughout with Aine taking her goal chance well. Emer Ryan converted two more frees. Caitriona Phelan and Eve Ryan continued to threaten in the half forward line leaving the full-time score 4-2 to 1-2. Great team performance girls! There will be no league games next weekend. Week of 14th September 2014

The Under 16s played New Inn in Monroe last Thursday evening and pulled away in the second half for a comfortable win. The game was competitive from the start with Moyle Rovers having plenty of scoring chances before Kristy Crotty Ryan found the back of the net and followed quickly with a point to settle our girls. The half time score was M. Rovers 1-4 New Inn 1-0. In the second half New Inn were awarded a penalty which they converted to leave just one point between the sides. This seemed to provide the wake up call to Moyle Rovers and they stepped up a gear and began to pile on the scores. Jenny Everard had a hat trick of goals as the forwards began find their range and accuracy. The backs and centerfield doing very hard work to create the chances and opportunities for the forwards. Team: Claire O’Dwyer, Amy Norris, Sarah O’Dwyer, Louise Norris, Rosin Breen, ,Shania Dowling, Emma Cronin, Aisling Deely Derbhile Fitzgearld, Zoe Farrell (1-2),Aine Fitzgearld (1-2), Kristy Crotty Ryan (1-3), Jenny Everard (3-1), Evrena Everard (0-3), Eimer Ryan, Roweena Dowling (1-0).The U 12s continue with the training for their upcoming league.

Player of the tournament was Catriona Phelan who was outstanding. Her first touch, scoring ability and competitiveness shining through on the day. All our girls enjoyed the day and the experience of playing in Semple Stadium. On Saturday 16th we went to Knockavilla to the annual Moira Cahill tournament with our u 10 team. This was a competition we were working towards with the team for the past couple of weeks. We had only 10 players going due to holidays and commitments with 10 aside played for all games. Our first game was against Nenagh Eire Og where we were unlucky not to draw. We had some great hurling from the girls. Ella Ryan showed great skill in the back line. Our goalie in the first game Jessie Davern played very well. The displays by Aoibhe Browne, Grainne O’Donnell and Grace O’Dwyer and Nicole Delaney were outstanding. The second game against Moycarkey was again well contested with our accuracy letting us down. The move of Jessie Davern into centre field worked well with Eve O’Dwyer going into goal. Jessie Davern passed to Aoibhe Browne who sooled through to blast to the net while Nicole Delaney made sure it went over the line. A deserved draw was the result. The third game was the decider against Boherlahan where we had to win to get to the quarter final of the cup. The girls went out determined and win they did with a superb goal from Grace O’Dwyer. The performance of centre field of Grainne O’Donnell Grace O’Dwyer and Jessie Davern was outstanding. With their continual blocking and hooking. Aoibhe Browne and Nicole Delaney caused a lot of problems for their backs. Ella Ryan Megan Looby and Eabha Dolan commanded the backline and cleared great ball. Eve O’Dwyer kept a clean sheet.

This put us into the quarterfinal against Cahir. The girls performed well with goals from Nicole Delaney, Alex Davern and Grainne O’Donnell. The move of Aoibhe Browne into the forward line with Alex Davern and Nicole Delaney worked well, with Grainne Grace and Jessie in the centre. Throughout all the games the display of Eabha Dolan who has only come up from the under 8 was outstanding, with no let up in her ability to compete and win the ball. The pickup and puck outs of Ella Ryan were the match winners giving great relief to the team to move forward and pressurise Cahir. Moyle rovers winning this game well. The semi final was against Shannon Rovers with the girls now playing their 5th match of the day and with no subs it was a hard ask, but again the girls rose to the challenge and worked well as a team. Shannon Rovers went two goals up but the Moyle Rovers girls got a goal back with 5 minutes to go and were pressurising the Shannon Rovers goal, their goalie was excellent saving a number of shots. The skill of the Moyle rover’s girls was excellent with harassing, blocking and hooking. We were awarded  a free in the final minute awarded but an injury to one of our players meant we ran out of time to take the free and the girls lost out to Shannon Rovers. Player of the Tournament was Ella Ryan. Shannon Rovers went on to the final to win the cup so our girls can be very proud of themselves to reach the semi final and to put on a great display of camogie. The team played as a team and supported and played throughout all the games with great determination to drive forward a team for the future. We are taking a break this week with no training Tuesday or Friday night for u 13, u 12 or u 10.

Week of 10th August 2014

The Under 16s opened their championship last Tuesday with an away game against Carrick Swans. The evening was wet and conditions greasy but the hurling quality was excellent despite the weather. This was a 12 aside game so plenty of effort and running was required and our girls were not found wanting in their work rate and determination. They were rewarded with a fine win thanks to great defending by our backs and well taken scores by the forwards. The Management team of Mairead Dowling and John Ryan can be very pleased the result. Thanks to Carrick for a fine sporting game. Week of 4th May 2014
Our U14 camogie team played the final group game versus Clonoulty on Tuesday April 22nd in Monroe. Our girls got off to a great start with Leah scoring a point followed by a goal. Louise, Emma and Aine covered great ground to supply the forwards but scores eluded us. Our defence of Karen and Yasmin made great clearances up the wing and Amy was very solid in the full back position. Clonoulty were pressing hard to get on the score sheet. Clare deflected a certain goal to see it go over the bar to register Clonoulty's first score. Two 65s saw two more points for Clonoulty followed by a goal to leave the half-time score 1-1 to 1-3. Our girls were not deterred when a determined Clonoulty started the second half with a goal following a crowded goal mouth scramble. Emer drove long clearances to the forward line and Leah popped the sliothar over the bar. A converted 65 and a goal by Clonoulty stretched the gap but Sophie, Erin and Ellen continued to work hard to create scoring chances. We got a penalty in the final few minutes and the resultant rebound was cleared and the game finished 3-4 to 1-2. The girls lost nothing in defeat as they gave their all to the end. Our under 12s were beaten by Fethard in Monroe Tuesday night 1-1- to 0-0. The U16s put in a very admirable and committed performance against Holycross last Monday evening in Monroe. Playing their first camogie game of the season they acquitted themselves very well with some well taken scores and never say die attitude. Our girls went about their task with determined intent. They defended stoutly and created some good scoring chances from strong runs at centre field. They were well worth their 0-4 to 0-1 lead at halftime. The second half started badly with two quick goals from Holycross which knocked the wind out of our sails after a lot hard work. Our girls kept working hard and each time they reduced the deficit  Holycross countered by scoring rather fortunate goals. Our girls can very proud a gutsy performance that was physically very demanding as this was a12 aside game played on a full size pitch. Week of 20th April 2014
U 12 played the first round of the league against Carrick Swan in Monroe last Monday evening. It was a well contested match. Our centre field of Caitriona Phelan and Grainne O’Donnell gave good supply to forwards Alana Dowling, Tara McGrath, Grace O’Dwyer and Triona Ryan who scored two well taken goals. At the other end any ball sent down to the Carrick forwards was dealt with by the Moyle Rovers backs Aoibhe Browne, Makayala O’Donnell and Sorcha O Brien. Orla Breen kept the wing clear passing the ball to her team mates who drove back up the field to the forward line. The first half was dominated by Moyle rovers. The second half saw many changes with Megan Looby coming in, and Sorcha O’Brien coming out into centre field and Grainne O’Donnell going into the back line. Duireann O’Sullivan and Rachel Cooke came into the forwards. Nicole Delaney and Shauna Mitten also on. The second half was again well contested.  Our goalie Eimear McKeown provided some great puck outs. Carrick scored a goal in the second half to put pressure on Moyle Rovers to hold their lead. Great work from the Carrick Swan goalie prevented the Moyle Rovers attack of Rachel Cooke and Duireann O’Sullivan and Tara McGrath from scoring. Sorcha O Brien and Caitriona Phelan along with Makayala O’Donnell played a great second half with great pick ups and pucks into the Carrick goal mouth. Shauna Mitten another great player assisted the team on the day. In the Under 14s it was also Carrick Swans who provided the opposition for our team on Tuesday 15th April on The Green in Carrick. Our girls worked well together as a team and combined well to take their scores. Our defence stood firm against the Carrick forwards and we won on the night on a scoreline of 6-6 to no score. Well done girls.
