Moyle Park was the venue on Friday 20th for the eagerly awaited meeting between Moyle Rovers and local rivals Clonmel Commercials in the first round of the Feile Peil.

This was our first competitive match on a full sized pitch and we found it difficult to deal with Commercials’ superior physical strength.

Ronan Quigley in goals made two good saves in the early stages of the match. Diarmuid Mulcahy, Louis Quirke & Jack Harney  played well in defence. In the forwards Luke Delahunty stood out and also converted two frees. Cathal McKeown battled bravely and following a well worked move from mid field delivered a fine pass to Cillian Crowe who struck the ball to the back of the net.

Despite the cold conditions, the game was played in a very sporting manner and at the final whistle the score line read:  Commercials 3-8 Moyle Rovers  1-2.
